Do men get the feel-good factor?
Just read the article called ‘The Emerging Man’ by Lee Anthony Taylor in this month’s Massage World magazine and loved it. He was writing about the inclusion of men in the clinic and how to encourage more to come in. He emphasised the importance of men’s health, in particular stress and tension, which is often overlooked, sidelined and not talked about.
I had to smile because in the past I have had the odd spouse dragged in to see me by the wife and not wanting to be there. These days I work by recommendation and this includes male partners or work colleagues who make appointments voluntarily and are willing to have a go at complementary therapy.
Confidentiality is the key and even when family members or friends both see me, this still applies. Wellness is achievable on many levels, not just sports or going down the pub. It is okay for men to have reflexology or the Bowen Technique and allow their selves to experience the feel-good factor.
